Self-soothing through touch is a phenomenal way to regulate our emotions.
Let’s continue with self-soothing and the ways to do it. The last time we talked about self-soothing, we talked about taste.
Touch is another way to self-soothe. Notice how things feel. You can relax in the sun, do some stretching, massage, or swim. Enjoy a bath or wrap up in a blanket, wear some favorite soft clothes, and be mindful of how these things feel. Petting our pets’ soft, warm fur is also a wonderful way to self-soothe through touch.
Another way touch helps to self-soothe is that it brings us back into the present moment of our body (with our senses) and out of our apprehensive heads.
